So my biggest tattoo pet peeve is asshole shop staff, artists included.
I have several pieces and I guess I will have to go out of town again to see my usual guy, hopefully he still takes appts.
I’ve been told I can’t be tattooed without a specific idea and not to come back until I have one. I’ve reasearched for months to find the perfect design only to be told they won’t tattoo other ppls designs or tattoos off the internet that other ppl have. I’ve had ideas I bring in insulted by the artist or called ‘that pinterest picture’. I’ve been treated like a burden because they evidently r too busy and talented to do a small simple tattoo.
Im running out of shops to visit after swearing off each one that treats me like shit or gives me bad vibes or looks skeevy with inexperienced artists. I cant seem to do it right for any of these asshole shops. this weekend was no exception and I didn’t let any of these jerks tattoo me, but I’ve been wanting another one for a long time now.
I get irritated at shops that treat potential clients like shit.
That is all.

I’ve been there too! Some tattoo artists need to get off their high horse. However most reputable artists won’t take a tattoo you found on a website and replicate it for you. The idea behind that is that the person who has the tattoo paid a good deal for a custom unique piece that another artist created for them, and that stealing that would be unethical. However, they should also have the good customer service to EXPLAIN that rather than just turning you away.
If you like a tattoo you see online I would reach out to an artist with your inspiration art and ask them to rework a similar piece for you. Some artists might feel like what you are looking for isn’t “their style”, but in all honesty them admitting that is a good thing. You wouldn’t want someone who does new school work to take a stab at doing something like a realistic portrait for you if that isn’t what they excel at. A good artist (read: not an asshole) should be able to steer you in the dirrection of someone new if what you’re looking for isn’t in their wheel house.

KoalaWalla: I can see how that makes sense. Im just that one girl who has zero creativity or originality. I’d be sad to change around what I’ve taken weeks or months to find that was juuust perfect. My other pieces were somewhat generic and didn’t have any trouble with them. But geez I didn’t want to drive out of state for 15 minutes and a few lines. I guess these artists would rather fill up every minute of their night with $800 back pieces. But what ur saying does make sense.
