(Sorry for giant font… I copied and pasted this and apparently that makes things huge lol)
Hey Bees! I wanted to write all this out while it was fresh in my mind and share with you guys how the big day went, after all the helpful tips and support I’ve gotten from all of you leading up to it!
Yesterday was the most perfect day ever… though it started out with a pretty big scare!
My day started out super stressful when I learned that, despite everyone’s best efforts to hide it from me, my dad went to the emergency room that morning with horrible pain in his lower right side… right around where his appendix is. This did effect my ability to really enjoy getting ready as much as I should have been, because I was worrying the whole time about whether or not he was going to be okay (the most important thing!) and whether or not he would make it to the wedding.
After my now-husband (hehe fun to say!) and I had our first look (Which was amazingly sweet), our photographer actually took us to the hospital to see my dad, just in case he wasn’t going to be back in time. In the end, after all the stress, it was just a kidney stone (which still sucks… I have had one and that pain is no joke!) They loaded him on painkillers (but luckily not ones that made him too high! Haha) and he was able to go back to the hotel, put on his tux, and arrive at the venue just in time (less than an hour before the ceremony! But he made it!)
That whirlwind was also followed by a thunderstorm scare, but it lasted about 15 minutes… the moment I was walking down the aisle, the clouds cleared and the sun came out. It was perfect!
Our ceremony was so amazing. My husband and I wrote our own vows, and didn’t share them ahead of time. It turns out that we both wrote quirky, light-hearted, fun vows with a bunch of pop-culture references sprinkled throughout. They went perfectly together! (Maybe a sign that we do too? :P)
Our sand ceremony was the only real hiccup, as we poured way too much sand into the hourglass and there were long awkward pauses as we waited for it to fill LOL It became a funny part of the ceremony though and everyone was laughing with us, not at us at least haha
Getting pronounced husband and wife was pretty much the best thing ever! My husband and I were so giddy! We couldn’t stop smiling and it felt so amazing to finally reach that moment together.
So the ceremony was totally amazing and the reception was so awesome too. Our first dance was funny but sweet. We both shuffled awkwardly but we sang to each other the whole time and it felt so romantic and cheesy! Lol Also, the food was amazing and our DJ… oh my god. EVERYONE kept raving about how fun and awesome he was! He knew exactly how to get everyone dancing and having a good time! Lots of our guests told us ours was one of (or the!) best and most fun weddings they’d ever been to. I loved hearing that!
From a more shallow point of view, I also felt more beautiful on my wedding day than I have ever felt. As someone who is very overweight (but I’ve lost 40 pounds since getting engaged, and plan to continue!) I have always hated how I look and have a lot of self esteem issues. But yesterday I felt like a princess and it was amazing! My dress glittered and sparkled like crazy in the sunlight and I just felt so pretty, especially when my husband saw me for the first time.
I’m sure most people are scrolling past all that looking for the pictures hehe But if you’re still reading, thank you for letting me gush about my day! It started out with so much stress and ended up absolute perfection! I’m so happy and so is my hubby!
It will be 8-10 weeks before we get our pics back (our photographer is amazing, but works slow! And we are okay with that haha) but he did post some previews today! These ones are our favorites:
(I am OBSESSED with that last pic!)
