@canuckandakiwi:  It’s easier to find your own name if the seating chart is alphabetized by last name. Many couples and families have different last names.

I’m gonna alphabetized by last name – the guy’s last name in the case of different last name couples.

@canuckandakiwi:  Haha, I just thought you meant you wanted to seat tables by last name instead of by who knows who! (Like The Allister Family would sit at the same table as the Allston Family, because all their last names start with the letter A!)

And I would organize them by last name!

I think alphabitizing by last name might work well with what you are doing.

With my seats, I just gave each table a name, and each person will definitely automatically know which table they belong with.

For Example:
Glenn (Last name) Family Table (my immediate family),
Ed (Last name) Family Table (my dads family),
(Last name) Family Table (my moms side),
Band Family Table (my band friends from high school),
(Last name) Family Table (FIs dads family),
(Last name) Family Table (FIs moms family)
David’s Dudes (FIs best friends)
((FIs immediate family is in bridal party))

We will definitely still have a chart with their names and tables, but once they see the table name they will know where to go, and wont have to worry about being with people they don’t know 🙂 Oh, and they are going to be listed under their catagories in alphabetical order.

And that is everyone coming to the wedding… its still aound 80 people. I love how we have an easy to split/seat guest list!
