I’ve been haunting the ring boards for quite awhile now, and I’m finally having my ring custom-made. I’m super excited!! The thing is, my Fiance has already proposed, and we’re already engaged. I don’t want to go into it on here– long story, hard to explain. My question to you bees is: Should we have any sort of special ring presentation/celebration when the ring is ready? Or should we just go to the jeweler’s and pick it up? I don’t want to do a “second proposal” because I don’t want to diminish the significance of the actual proposal just because this ring wasn’t a part of it. But should we do something special for this too?
I’d love to hear any thoughts or ideas you might have! Thanks! 🙂

I’m in the same process right now (actually we just saw the first wax last night). We won’t do anything special at all when the ring is finished. Like you, we’re already engaged!
I am, however, waiting to wear it until the wedding (we’re just having one ring). So I guess I’ll get something special in the end after all!

Get him to at least pic it up from the jeweler then bring it home…then he can give it to you at home in private…u can do something special then lol wink wink

I lost my rings, so we’re looking for replacements. I’ve been stalking the ring boards and going with my DH to look in jewelry stores, but, when we find what we want, he’ll pick it up and surprise me. He is planning to repropose in a way, but not in the way I think you’re thinking of. It will be more of a “will you continue to spend your life with me?” and “I still want to spend my life with you” type thing. I would definitely do a “ring presentation” of some sort. It will give you a chance to make a new, different special memory (which I’m so looking forward to), and it doesn’t have to diminish the memory of the original proposal.

We had the same thing–we decided to get married and considered ourselves to be engaged before we even had picked out a ring. So we got one made, it took forever and when we FINALLY went to pick it up, he saw me bouncing inside my skin and handed me the box in the parking lot. I would have been a mess if I had to wait any more, I am SO BAD at waiting.
The plan was to have a proposal dinner where we said sweet things to each other but life happened and it didn’t happen for several months. So we traded rings and he proposed at a fancy restaurant and we got free champagne and dessert. We called it the post engagement proposal and it was awesome.

Just an update… I could NOT wait– I just went with my Fiance to the jeweler’s to pick it up! :p I was way too excited and anxious to make sure the custom design turned out the way I wanted it to… and it did! Yay!! 🙂
