My favorite couples costume I’ve done is a cop and a donut. If we were on opposite sides of the room at a party I would yell “get back here” and we’d have a quick chase. It was cute and hilarious.

You could do a bear and a clawed up camper

ash Ketchum and pikachu

pirate and parrot

curious george and the man in the yellow hat

spider and pig a la charlottes web

a farmer and a cow

if he’s taller than you he could dress as Cher and you could be sonny!

If you’re already married and you still have your dress, go as zombie bride and groom – you just need some makeup!

Couples’ costumes don’t always have to be a clever counterparts idea, you can always use two of the same thing that might travel together, and then just be slightly different from each other. My husband and I are going as two different jellyfish. (He copied me but his reasoning is sound!)

If you can find 4+ others, who can go as Clue characters. (Fill the standard colors, then add Mr Body and/or extra characters as needed.)

The Scooby Doo gang tends to be easy- you could be Velma and Shaggy.

Other easy ideas include Pokémon trainers, Charlie Brown characters, Operation game guy and nurse, and ghosts (classic sheets- I think it’s funny.)

My SO and I are planning to go as a mermaid and captain to go off of The Little Mermaid. I don’t think that we’re going to the same party so feel free to use that idea 😉 So far, that’s my favorite idea of a costume because I already have a cute lacy purple bra for the seashell bra and I can get super creative with the makeup. Pinterest, as always, has great inspiration.

Another I’ve seen is to dress as a Jack Daniels Bottle and a Coke can.. Jack and Coke. Also, if you’ve seen the movie Smoky and the Bandit you could go as Frog and the Bandit, my SO and I also thought about that option.

Forest Gump and Jenny would be a cute idea and you can probably easily DIY that outfit. Another cute one is to go as Squints and Wendy Peffercorn from the Sandlot!

My fiance loves Halloween, it’s his favorite holiday as well. And luckily for me, he doesn’t mind doing couple costumes at all. Costumes we have done in the past:

Doctor Who (pick your favorite doctor, he chose 11) and the Tardis

Bob and Tina from Bob’s Burgers (Linda would have been more appropriate, but Tina is my fave. This costume was super easy to put together, and everyone loved it)

This year we are planning on going as Vincent and Mia from Pulp Fiction (I get to reuse my Tina black wig! Woooo!)

As you can tell, we are pretty nerdy and like doing costumes from movies and tv. Other ideas we have floated around but haven’t used are Buttercup and Westley from Princess Bride, Ash and Pikachu, Amy and Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, and Jim and Pam from the Office.

Darling Husband and I are doing a more ‘creative’ couples costume. I’m in fashion so I love super unique costumes .. I will be going as the stars and he will be the night sky. So think crystal tights, dark elegant starry dress and celestial makeup and accessories for me and then he will be in an all black suit with a smudge of black face paint across his eyes. It sounds a little weird typing it out but it’s gonna look so cool!

Some other ideas: a 1920’s couple (Great Gatsby style), I’ve seen a hercules and pegasus costume which was adorable, mermaid/siren and sailor, Magician and rabbit, Mary Poppins and chimney sweep,

My Fiance and I are going to be Mario and Luigi. We made the costumes ourselves. He loves video games, so it works for us 🙂 Another idea is when we were in high school my brother and I were Raggedy Ann and Andy. (That involved a wig though.) Good luck and let us know what you decide on!

When I was dating a redhead, we ended up going as Jackie & JFK. I found a cheap chanel-ish suit with a pillbox hat at the thrift store and he just wore a suit. People got it. We were comfortable. It was easy.

I WANTED to go as Roger & Jessica Rabbit, but he was a spoilsport and wouldn’t wear the overalls.

Depending on how casual this is, you could order these jammies and go as the care bears

My husband and I were comic book characters one year- just draw those cartoon lines on your face- I was surprised by how easy it was. I love Halloween and tend to come up with elaborate ideas for months in advance and then end up being too lazy to actually DO them and come up with something easy. Here are some others that I’ve done or that my friends have done:

Little red riding hood and the wolf (my friend was riding hood and her boyfriend was grandma with wolf ears and paws in a long robe).

Fairy and a hunter

super heros

a broken doll and a ventriloquist

Mad scientist and freak creation

dead opera singer and phantom of the opera

If your guy has a shaved head, you could go as V is for Vendetta and Evey (with him as Evey)

One year my parents went to a party as Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead.  It was really cute.  My mom got extra large brown sweatshirts and sewed on the eyes, nose, and mouth.  They stuffed pillows inside the sweatshirts to get the rounder look and wore hats.

We have been:

– a tree hugger and a tree

– a lifeguard and a shark

– a spaceship and an alien

– darth Vader and a storm trooper.

We have a baby this year so we’re thinking of building his stroller into a sleigh, having our two dogs as reindeer, baby as Santa, and us as giant elves. We’ll see.
