1 million doesn’t go far where I live. 17th most expensive place in the world I believe
2562 square feet, 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath. $1,050,000

@ImmaBee: 1M I’d get a country domain. We live in a rural area, near Québec city but by the St.Lawrence river. The average patrimonial house in my village and outskirts is 500K. Fiance and I won’t buy our first home here, obviously. But we are now renting an appartment that’s very inexpensive, for a huge 3 bedroom by the river. It’s temporary, but we’re happy we got to live here a few years. 🙂
This is actually in the town right next to mine….All of the towns are relatively small (1-2 miles) so it was hard to find one in “my neighborhood” This house is listed for $950,000.
For just a bit more than a $1million, you can get this 2 bedroom, 1 den + 2 bathroom condo. 1300 sq ft, but with $750/month maintenance fees (HOA). This is the nicest apt for a million in my neighbourhood in downtown Toronto.
you can not purchase a place in my immediate area for 1mil. maybe 1.5mil will get you a cramped 2-bedroom apartment, further down the road! ;P hong kong is the world’s most expensive place to buy a home, so yeah.
Oh geez, $1M will buy a LOT in places I don’t live in. Here in Canada it’s expensive.
Where I live it’s COLD and a million bucks won’t get you much either. Sure, you’ll get something nice… but not something that most people would expect to get for that much money.
I can’t post a listing, because our city is too small and there aren’t many houses around a million. If a house is going for a million it’s a historic mansion near the water, a historic mansion on the water, or a really big 8+ bedroom house that’s totally updated on the water (with a boat house and private dock).
A shack in Toronto just told for $350,000. It didn’t have electricity or running water. I’m assuming it sold just for the land but really????
You all are making me so sad. I live just outside Washington DC – and lots of places are actually more expensive in Northern VA than DC because better schools, more affluent communities, etc. This is just under $1 million in Arlington VA, 3 bedroom 4 bath…it was very particular to mention the PRIVATE BACKYARD haha because that’s not all too common:
