I’m eloping in a few weeks – the service will be in a 800 year old Italian town hall followed by photographs around the town and in the countryside. I ordered the dress online, then paid more than it cost to be altered but now I don’t know if I love it, although I can’t seem to find any other dresses I prefer more or are vastly different in style. As the big day gets closer I’m a bit nervous about it and wonder whether I should turn it into a strapless?
Would love your thoughts on which style you prefer (or any other opinions!)! I did a basic mock-up in Paint below. The lazy bride in me says keep it the way it is because a strapless means I need to go shopping for a necklace!!
The one down side to eloping is there is no one to give a second opinion when you actually want it! Maybe I’m just finding stuff to stress about since there is nothing else left to do!
Thanks in advance!

I think the one shoulder elongates you, plus I love the extra detailing on the shoulder. The straight across neckline seems to cut you off a bit, and isn’t as unique.

I would keep the lace shoulder or else it’s just another strapless dress!

RedSequins: first of all I think that the dress is gorgeous, it suits your figure beautifuly! I think it would look nice whatever you did, however I like the original, I think it adds a little something, especially for the style of wedding you are having in Italy. You really have to be 100% comfortable with it in yourself, and as far as the necklace I got one from an online Etsy store and the women was great, and helped when I wanted to change the stone, maybe have a little look around?

I think the one shoulder makes it look unique and really elegant I’m really not a fan of it strapless.

I love the strap I think its gorgeous, I would definitely keep it as is 🙂

Leave the dress alone, the shoulder balances out the whole thing perfectly – without it you’ve ended up with another meh dress rather than something elegant and classical. Get some amazing dangly earrings instead and do simple, perfectly coiffed hair and you are set 🙂

Oh crap! This is tough! Normally I’m not a fan of one shoulders on a wedding dress. I love them on regular clothes. But, that one shoulder ‘strap’ is beautiful. I actually like it with the strap from the front…can we see it from the back? Is the strap lace in the back like it is in the front?

The strap is great, strapless makes it look boring. I like the dress! It’s simple and pretty and flattering!

I MUCH prefer the strap – it makes the dress unique and gives it more of a wow factor.

Thank you SO MUCH ladies! I’m overwhelmed with the response and the majority to leave the strap – I honestly expected the poll to go the other way!
@UKbee – lovely website thanks!
@Peanut-Sue – it’s very much a strap at the back but I will wear a fingertip veil so you wont see much of it. Link to the original purchase here –>
