Here’s my situation: I bought my dress in September 2010. It fit me like a glove (except for length, because I’m very short). But it hugged my curves perfectly…it felt like it was made for me.
The dress was only $457, which I consider quite a bargain!
But now I’m thinking I want to lose weight. But I’m a bit annoyed, because if I do that, I’m going to have to pay for my dress to be taken in…which is going to surely take away from the “bargain” aspect of it.
So my question is…how much did it cost you guys to get your dress taken in a size or two?

I had the bodice taken in a little, and the hem brought up an inch. My alterations were $58.

@ProfessorGirl: Oh that’s much cheaper than I imagined alterations to be!! You’ve given me hope 🙂

I had the bodice taken in, the neckline modified, and a bustle added. I dunno how much each item was, but the total was $304.

I think it is gonna depend on where you live at and where you take your dress to. I’ve heard taking it to the bridal salons is much more expensive and that you are better off finding someplace not associated with the bridal salon to do your alterations.
My mom just told me that David’s Bridal quoted $100 just to have my sister’s bridesmaid dress hemmed and the straps altered at the top of the dress. Needless to say, they aren’t bringing it back to DB and I will not for my dress as well.
