Here is a pic of the back of my dress when I tried it on. The place I purchased it from does not do alterations, so I have to get them done elsewhere. I’m planning on having the chest altered to fit tighter, and since it fit perfectly when I bought it, I’m actually hoping it will need to get taken in some!!
This dress has boning built in to it and gives great support. There is ruching on the front of the bodice that hides any indication of the boning. However, on the back the bottom edge of the boning extends about 1.5-2 inches past the ruching and you can see the imprint of it through the dress on the sides of my lower back where the dress lays smooth.
Question: Would it affect anything if we had the “sleeve” that the boning is encased in the lining snipped open, shorten the boning (just on the back), and sewed it back secure? I’m still looking for someone who can alter it when I need them done, but I wanted to make sure this didn’t sound like a horrible idea!
