So I bought my dress yesterday..!! My wedding is June 29th and my dress is supposed to be in by May 28th. How many fittings did you need after your dress arrived? How long did it take from the time it arrived until it was finished? Did anyone’s seamstress mess up terribly on their dress??

It took me over a month to get into the seamstress. So book in advance. Also, make sure the seamstress is aware of the very tight timeline. Look up reviews on the seamstress before commiting.

@CMaebelle: I would find a seamstress now and book with them as soon as possible. My weddng is May 16th and I’m booked for an April 6th apt. The lady will have my dress “done” by April 20th and then I’ll have a second fitting from there. Your body can change so much in a month so its good to have at least two fittings. Also, I feel that they wont have done all the changes perfectly the first time so they will need to tweak the second time. I plan on having at least two fittings with one possibly the week of the wedding.

I began my alterations three weeks before, because they thought I would only need two fittings. I ended up needing three and the last one was a little bit too close for comfort for me, so I would suggest one month. Try to schedule your fittings for when the dress arrives.

Sounds like you all had about the same time frame to get your dresses altered as I’m going to.. Ahh that makes me breathe a little easier!!

When my dress came in, I had an alterations 2 weeks after that. Then another one 1 week after that (which was my final one).

I had two alterations appointments and one final fitting. My first alterations appointment was about two months before the wedding. I picked my dress up the Friday before my Sunday wedding

I would book a seamstress now, and let her know of the tight turnaround. Also, if you have an idea of what you will need done, let her know so she knows what she is going into.
