I really didn’t love the person who did my alterations, so I don’t feel right about recommending them.  My mom got her gown altered in a little shop in Jenkintown, I don’t remember the name (it is a dry cleaners and seamstress place) i don’t think they ‘specialize’ in wedding gowns but they did a great job on my mom’s gown.  I’ll get the name from her if you’d like.

I’ve seen reviews for Irina Sigal, but have heard that she is pretty expensive.  No personal experience with her though, but have known people who have used her and liked her work.

Hi Miss. Sloth. I am using someone in Malvern. How close is that to you? The “philly area” can be so big. She works are a bridal store but does alterations for like 1/2 the cost out of her house!

I am using Nilah & Company in Drexel Hill.  I haven’t gotten my dress back yet but she was really nice in my first fitting and got good reviews online

Sloth, if you call Belle of the Ball Bridal, they can give you the contact information for Gloria. She is the seamstress that they refer all of their clients to. They said they don’t have her in house because she has her own business and they don’t have anyone else in house because there’s no one better than her.

Sounds like a pretty solid recommendation to me. I personally have not used her or spoken with her, but she comes with some pretty solid feedback.

@rachaelrobin: Hey Rachael. I see that you mentioned Irina Sigal as a great seamstress for alterations.  I was going to get my dress altered in house by Priscilla of Boston when the time comes. But I have not heard amazing things about them in general for alterations.

You’ve definitely heard from many people that Irina is great? If so, I’ll probably just go to her. If you know, what is the price range for alterations?

Any idea on relative expense of Nilah?  I was considering her due to the great reviews online, but I am worried she might be pricey.

She quoted me around $300 for the dress to be taken in, bustle added and then to be pressed etc for the wedding day.

@LuckyJuls: Sorry, I don’t know anything about her pricing, just that it can be ‘expensive.’  I have heard good reviews about her, and the salon where I bought my gown refered me to her (which looking back, I should have done).  I’d suggest calling her and asking for a quote.  good luck!

Sorry!! I haven’t checked in for a while…..I am going to see this lady in a few weeks to see how she is. If the other alterations suggestions don’t work out let me know.
