Whoa now, are you kidding me?? $600 for alterations and $240 for a HEM?? What the heck? Is your dress made of gold or diamonds or something?  At DB I was quoted $35 for a hem.  The most expensive thing I saw for them was like $70 for a french bustle.

$600… no thank you! That’s more than my dress cost!  Sorry, no clue how to handle this if they’ve already started and since the wedding is so close. 🙁

I think the high price tag may due to the timing.  Is it possible that you can call a couple of other places to see if you can get a better price?

I would demand that they at least take up the hem, it was their mistake and they should rectify it!

Yes, that’s excessive.  Try to find some independent seamstresses today.  I am going to my seamstress during the week so I can leave after work.  Plus I have friends locally if I need a place to crash.

Check the boards as well as yelp for some options and start calling now.  Its wedding season so I know ppl are trying to charge outrageous prices.

I’m in the OC unfortunately so I can’t give you any suggestions but I’m sure if you tried yelp and here, you’ll find someone.

Good Luck.
