Spent $588.30 yesterday at Davids Bridal. I did not think my alterations, the bridal bra, ballgown slip, and satin and fur winter cape for outdoor photos would cost that much! My alterations were $320, and that was for the hem line, bustle, and minor alteration to my one sholder strap on the bridal gown!
My fiacnes tux rental totaled $158, with a hair cut his total cost for his wedding day look will be $178. Its crazy.

Yeah, alterations suck, and getting them done at DB is especially expensive. But, I bet you will look beautiful on your day! Plus, considering your alterations were 320, 588 for everything doesn’t sound that bad.

That is a lot of money-almost what I paid for my dress! I understand that altering wedding gowns is a specialty, but WOW! But once you get your dress back and it’s been altered to fit YOU, I’m sure it will be worth it 🙂
THis makes me SO glad I bought my gown from a shop that had alterations included– I was terrified to buy one anywhere else, because no one could tell me what the alterations would run because most of them have recommended seamstresses, not someone in-house, so they had no idea what the cost would be.

@Merelymere: I didn’t even know there were places that included the alterations for free. I never heard of any in the Philadelphia area.

I know it’s too late now, but I bet if you’d gotten this stuff elsewhere, it would have been a lot cheaper. But don’t beat yourself up too much over it. Being happy with how you look on your wedding day is priceless.
