I bought my dress a year ago in a spur of the moment shopping trip as I loved the feeling of it and it was on sale – but later realised it had been put together in a weird way so there was a visible seam at the waist between the bodice & skirt which I just hated and it made me hate it it enough to debate about getting a new dress for months.
However, on some advice from the Bees I decided some alterations were worth a go to see if the waist seam could be altered a bit so it was slightly less visible. The dress is layers of chiffon over satin, so the top layers of chiffon were taken off and the top was then sewn on in 1 piece over the satin, so although the satin still has a waist seam, the chiffon top layer does not and this goes over the satin layer. You can see the seam through the chiffon but I think it does look a heck of a lot better. Just debating if it is ok now!
Looking for a second opinion here – looking at the first picture – do you think the waist line still looks too odd to wear or is it ok now? Or does it just look the same!? The second picture is a picture of the dress when I first bought it with the waist seam on both chiffon & satin. (excuse the sideways picture, it was the only way we could get the whole dress in).
