I actually happen to have the DB alterations sheet with me!

shorten sleeves $35

take in sides: $20

hem: $75

over bustle: $35 for first 3 loops (+$5 each additional)

under bustle: $50 first 3 loops (+$7 each additional)

My guess for you would be right around $200?

🙁 I know that sucks, but honestly I’ve heard some not so great things about DB in the past (we just got Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses there b/c of the price) so maybe you are better off going elsewhere!

Of all the items you listed, the hem probably costs the most…. Could you buy a higher heel and not have it hemmed?

My alterations were about $300…. I thought that was cheap seeing as she took it in all the way to my knees & basically turned it into a mermaid style skirt.

I took my dress to a local seamstress.  She is hemming it, taking in the sides, adjusting the halter strap and putting snaps in it, reshaping the sides for better breast coverage, installing boning to help the dress hold its shape better, bustling and making a matching detail for the back to amp up the sash.  All the of this for $75!!!  I don’t know how that worked out, but I’m not arguing!

It all ready depends on the seamstress, and if you dress has beads or lace, cause its harder to work with. And it is a wedding dress! I’m so glad I don’t have to get any alterations!!

My alterations were 100 for bustle (which was complicated because I have an asymmetrical train) and a hem at a private boutique. I could see spending 300 plus taxes for what you had done.

So far, I’m looking at 150. But, I think my dress will need to be taken in, which I’m sure will add another 100.

I spent $272 + 12% tax at David’s Bridal.  Take in side from top to hem (short dress), shorten hem, and add straps.  My dress is 2 in 1.  $272 doesn’t include alteration of my removable long skirt.  I asked for the quoted of the aleration of the long skirt and it would cost another $250.  I got my dress for $349 so I can’t justify paying $500 + for alteration.  So I’ll use only short dress for our beach ceremony.

@iheartsquishy:  Based on what I’d been told by other brides, I was expecting about $200-300 and mine ended up being $450! Ridiculous. Oh well!
