My dress is partial lace and my seemstress suggested we dont touch it.  It would require her to remove the lace, alter, then place the lace back on.  She said it would ruin how the dress looks.  But that was just the way my dress was made.

It was only one size to big and the boob area was all that needed altered so she suggested we stuff it.  Which I did and you can’t tell at all.

I think the only way to know is to get a consult. My dress has something special going on at the hem that affected how my person had to shorten the hemline, which is a bit more labor intensive, so it was a bit more $$. Hopefully you ahve a couple of options and you can shop around for alterations?

@mrsbruff2b:  This makes me nervous, too. Please report back once you’ve talked to some good seamstresses! I’d love to know, seeing as even if you bought it new, they’d have to order the largest size for your measurement, correct? There has to be a way to do it, right? Keep us posted!
