I bought my dress about a week ago. There’s a fantastic consignment dress shop where I live, and I found this one (brand new!) for a great price. I’m so happy with it!
It was a size or two too big, though. It’s not an issue since it’s a corset-back dress, but when it’s laced up to where it needs to be, you sort of lose the effect of the back. I guess I just want opinions on whether I should bother with taking in the sides a bit. Here are a few pictures for reference:
Sorry it’s a little hard to see in the picture because of the veil.
This is what the back is supposed to look like:
I would go ahead and do it anyway, but I’m worried it’ll be pretty expensive because of the detailing on the side:
But if no one thinks it really matters, then there’s no point in needing to get it altered. So I just want opinions, I guess. Thank you!

I think it’s fine as-is.
Disclaimer: I really don’t care for corset-style backs. (I just wanted you to know I’m giving a tainted opinion). 🙂 So, if you want to emphasize the corset look, I would advise you to simply have it altered! It’s your dress, and you should do whatever you can to make sure you feel and look the most beautiful in your eyes.

I would have a consultation with a seamstress or two and have them give you a quote. I do think it would look a little better with it taken in, but if it is too expensive it’s not a big deal.

Added a poll. Thanks for the advice so far, ladies!

Check with a seamstress. It doesn’t look bad, but I can see that it’s laced as tight as possible. I think corset back dresses are meant to show the corset laces as part of the dress (they’re beautiful). But it is YOUR dress and you know your budget, so do what you feel is right.
good luck! 🙂
