I bought my dress at Sabrina Ann and need alterations done – they recommeneded Nilah, but told me that she’d probably be the most expensive. Searching through these boards, reviews on Nilah seemed a little mixed.
They also gave me a card for someone named Athena and told me she was more affordable – I don’t know where she’s located, all I have is a phone number. Just wanted to see if anyone had heard of Athena or used her for their alterations. Thanks!

@Neel15: @Atalanta: @RayRayFurious:
I have an appointment to see Nilah, but am still looking to see if there’s anyone cheaper.
The places that seem to keep coming up are Rippert’s Tailoring in Roxborough http://rippertstailoring.com/
and Irina Sigal in Philly http://www.irinasigal.com/Bridal.asp
Who did you or any other bees on this thread end up going with?
From my own estimate I just need a hem, bustle, and maybe cups sewn in.

@linglu: I ended up using Athena, she was slightly cheaper (not much) than Irina Sigal and Nilah. I needed a bustle (no hem) and my dress taken out a bit. Athena said she’d do it, but both Irina and Nilah said they would have to add in a separate, extra “panel” instead of taking out the dress. I didn’t want the panel if I didn’t need it, since I wasn’t sure I would like how it would look, so I went with Athena. I thought she did a good job with everything and I didn’t need a panel, so I don’t know why the others said that. Rippert’s Tailoring said they’d charge me a fee for giving me an estimate on how much it would cost to alter my dress, so I didn’t go to them at all. Athena takes most of the summer off, so if you’re looking now for alterations, she might not be around. Let me know if you have any other questions!
