They may charge you more at private salons but at least you won’t be putting your dress in the hands of the hackjobs at our local DB (I’m from the Cap Region, too). My friend used their seamstress for her wedding dress and it was a total nightmare. 

I personally recommend the seamstress at Danielles Bridal (also in Saratoga). She works for herself, not the salon, so I don’t think she’d charge anything additional for purchasing your dress elsewhere, though I could be wrong. I bought my dress there, so I can’t say for sure. She did a great job though and I thougth her prices were affordable.

Hi!  I’m just wondering who you chose and how your dress came out.  i think I’m going to need a fair amount of alterations and what to go to someone who will be comfortable doing more than just a hem or bustle.
