- Wedding: June 2013
Quick synopsis…I have a dropped waist ballgown, all lace…
When I purchased it and the seamstress first looked at it she quoted me $250 for alterations.
3 weeks later when I went back for the first appt, I was told the number was going to be at least $425 (ouch) but dress was paid for, i’ll eat it.
This is what is being done : bust cups added (salon owner threw them in free so they only charged me $10 to sew them in), side seams taken in, dress shortened at waist because bottom is finished lace, and a 10 point bustle done.
I have had 2 appt’s already…the first was middle of March for my June 8th wedding.
This morning was my third fitting…and I was supposed to go back one more time for the final. Wedding is 17 days away…I live an hour away, I have a bazillion kids, plus work full time so my schedule is crucial/busy when it comes to wedding stuff.
I got a text from her (seamstress) this morning saying she needs to reschedule todays fitting, apparently she had called me last night, I didn’t answer because I thought it was a customer for work and I don’t answer my phone after 7pm, let it go to voicemail and had planned to check it today once I was on the road.
She had scheduled this one this far out because of a family event last week which she was out of town for…I’ve heard her complain a few times about how many June brides she has.
I’m a bit upset right now…and I’m concerned that its not going to get done or its going to be last minute and I cannot do that with my schedule.
FTR I purchased the gown at this salon, the owner is amazing. She sells second hand, sample and new dresses, I got this one for a steal ($2500 sample gown for $1000).
Should I be freaking out?
And WWYD if you were in my shoes,…
ETA: she wants to reschedule because she has something wrong with her leg and she doesn’t have as much done as she needed too (according to her)
