I got my dress alterations done rather early, almost two months early because my seamstress is busy with proms now. I have a few bones to pick with the seamstress.
1-she didn’t save any of the fabric from MY dress and I specifically asked her to. I had to have a lot of the bottom taken off since I am only 4′-11″. I was counting on using some of this for other things.
2-I asked for a short sleeve jacket/shrug and she made a long sleeve one; I didn’t ask her to fix it because she spoke early about the fabric costing $50/yard. I didn’t have the heart to cut/ruin/change all that. What’s worse is I have almost half the fabric left over. She said she got the two yards to be sure it would be enough. She probably only needed the one yard for a short sleeve jacket/shrug. It’s see through lace so I don’t know if I can use it for anything else.
There is nothing I can do now. My dress fabric is gone. It was a sample dress I had bought as is at a sale. Now I feel like I need a contract for everything though. I would recomend putting everything in writing.
Hope this helps prevent problems for all of you ladies that have not had your alterations!
