I was able to procure a dress this past weekend at a giveaway event. While it is a beautiful gown, it doesn’t fit most of the criteria I had in mind for my wedding dress. Unfortunately the selection was very limited at the event, and I didn’t have much to choose from. That is not to say I am ungrateful for the gown- I am very grateful. I don’t have $1000+ for a dress.
My question now becomes what I can do to make this dress more in alignment with my vision. I had wanted drop waist, lots of sparkle, organza or tulle, and a big skirt. This gown has a big skirt, but that’s about it. I would love to drop the waist and add sparkle somehow.
Has anyone successully turned a natural waist into a drop waist via alterations?
How might I add serious sparkle? My issues with a belt are these: I think a belt would look weird due to the pleated bodice, and also it just wouldn’t be quite enough sparkle. I had envisioned head to toe sparkle, so to reduce that to only a sparkle belt seems- anticlimactic. I was thinking maybe get a beaded/sequin lace overlay to put over the bodice. Would that look weird since the bodice is pleated?
Help me, bees! I want to love my dress, not just like it.
Sorry about the big pictures- I am not tech savvy. Hopefully they post.
