I found THE dress. Simple, pretty and with polka dots!
There is only one problem. The size. According to the measurements (it’s a used dress) I would need to take 1″ in at the bust, 5″ at the waist, and upto four at the hips. Is this crazy? There is not any embellishment that would complicate the process, but is a seamstress going to think that I’ve lost my mind?
How much did you have taken in on your dresses? Thank you for the advice, Ladies!

i dont think your crazy! those are normal alterations from what i understand. my dress will have to be taken in about 3″ in the bust 2″ in the waist and 1″ in the hips… maybe more if i lose anymore weight. the seamstress at the bridal shop told me it will be no problem at all 🙂 yours should be especially simple because there is no embellishment 🙂

my dress was a sample size fourteen. i am a size two so i was very worried. however; i just had my second fitting and the dress looks really good. the first appointment of my fitting looked weird because the boning on one side looked all disformed but they immediately fixed it at the second fitting and you couldnt tell. i will post pics when my computer is back from the shop…writing this on my phone. i dont think you need to worry though.

I agree with the other posters. When I was searching out a dress that was discontinued, the only sizes available from the designer were at least 3 or 4 sizes up from what I’d need and the store said there’d be absolutely no problem taking it in. They said that at the most it’s only about an inch per size, they weren’t phased at all. As long as you’ve got a decent amount of time to have a few fittings to make sure it suits you well, go for it!
