I had my first fitting and my dress buttoned up just fine. My seamstress removed the boning from the chest area because it was too overwelming/shaped really weird for my small chest. Even after she removed it, I put the dress back on with no issues.
Three weeks later I went in for my second fitting and then dress would not button up all the way. It was too tight around my upper ribs. I haven’t gained any weight and she didn’t take it in at all. The seamstress thinks that I could have been bloated and so we scheduled my next fitting for July 29th – the same time of the month I’ll be getting married in in August. The dress was tight in the first place but fit well. I’m having a really hard time believing that the issue could be bloating. My upper rib area seems like a strange place for this and for the dress to literally not close for this reason seems crazy to me.
So, I have two questions for you – When she removed the boning I could literally hear her ripping them out. I don’t know anything about this, but would she have gone in and stitched up those seams taking away some of the fabric and actually making the dress smaller? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
I’m starting to panic a bit knowing that there is an issue and that my next alteration is less than a month before my wedding. Luckily, there is room for her to take it out, but I just don’t want it to be too big or too small on wedding day! Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated!
