I want to order the Monique Lhuillier lace cap sleeve dress for my elopement. It’s only available online and size 12 is the only size left. I’m 5’0 tall, 112 lbs, typically wear a size 4. Is it possible to alter a dress from a size 12 to a size 4 without compromising the look?
I’m a 32Dirty Delete and my waist and hips are around a size 8 / 10 on the designer sizing chart, but I’m not sure if I did the hip measurement correctly. Below is a picture of the dress in red, but I want it in ivory. Thanks!

With the back shaped the way it is and cut out like that I think it will alter it drastically but only the back. I’ve altered XL’s to Smalls before but basic patterns that have a simple design and they’ve always turned out perfect. I think the front and sleeves would be fine it’s the back that’s tricky.

Actually we do that all the time in our bridal store. We have an outlet department and often have only a few sizes of one dress. So we alter the dresses to your size. You do need an experienced and good seamstress though. So ask around for recommended seamstresses in your area.
The lace illusion neckline/cap sleeves will be the most difficult to resize. It’s a small picture, so i’m not completly sure about how neatly it can be altered. It depends on the pattern of the lace. When you take the dress to a seamstress ask her how she would do it. From what she tells you, you will get a good idea if she’s any good or not.

@mseagles: I’d talk to a good seamstress and see what he/she says. Beautiful dress.
