My wedding dress has a deep V neck – I was wondering if it would be possible to bring the bust of the dress closer in order to close the gap and make it more of a classic sweetheart. The sides of the dress have illusion mesh (google style #D3324 from Essence of Australia)

Does it have a skin toned mesh in the deep V? You could just have it lined with the same/matching fabric or lace as the rest of the dress. This is easier and cheaper than physically pulling the gap closed (which would also need further alterations or the straps would sit closer to your neck vs shoulders).

Yes, the mesh is skin toned. Can’t really add a piece of fabric because of the floral lining going down the edge of the V, which is why I think it would look best to just bring it together. But I see what you’re saying about having to alter the straps as they would be too close to the neck.

a good seamstress can remove the floral lining that goes down the edge of the V. You can then add in matching lace. Here’s my wedding dress and I think it might be similar to the look you’re trying to achieve.

Oh that worked perfectly, it looks wonderful . And the dress bodice being lined in the same shade as the skirt is perfect too, it avoids that disconnect between the two. I do hope OP follows your example.

the neckline is so so gorgeous and not too revealing it’s a shame to alter it. However if you do the gown will still be a knockout. But I just love the plunging neckline.
