SHOW ME YOUR ALTERED MERMAID GOWN!!!!
Yesterday I purchased my White by Vera Wang Twill Gazar Gown for only $299. WHAT A STEAL?!
I’m a huge fan of the extravagant mermaid styled gowns. The gown is described as a mermaid, but when trying it on… to me it’s more of a fit and flare… border line A-Line cut. I would love to see anyone’s dress that has gone through what I am planning to go through. Thanks Bees!!!
Here’s the dress!

What a deal! I think I recall one bride on here who did what you want to and she had photos. I cannot remember her name, so hopefully she’ll see this!

@MeiFrancis: Thanks a lot!! It has a nice flare, but not quite “Mermaid”… Most likely will take it in on the sides and add a fluffy petticoat!

My dress is already a true mermaid, so I don’t have pics to post. Just make sure you get a professional seamstress who knows what she’s doing. She’ll probably have to tighten the dress around your hips and then add crenoline below the knees to give it that mermaid feel. I have no idea how much that would cost, but my guess is you’ll end up spending as much as the dress cost!

I think it is possible with this dress, taking in the sides and adding a mermaid petticoat should help change the silhouette.

@michiru4ever: Wow, not to highjack this thread or anything but I just had to comment on your name. I was obsessed with Sailor Moon when I was younger! My friends called me Michiru all the way through high school. LOL! 🙂

@Christy42213: you are the only person who has ever gotten the association in 15 years. I loved that show! Now I’m just too lazy to pick a new screen name. LOL

I purchased a fit and flare & had it altered to a mermaid. I think my alterations totaled out at $300 or $350. I posted pics on another thread but right now I’m on a mobile so I can’t link to it. I was thrilled with the results.
