My Fiance proposed just a few months ago in May. He’s one of those guys that thinks “If you know your woman, then you should be able to pick the perfect ring out for her.” Well I do love my ring so much, but it isn’t necessarily the perfect ring, YET. The only change I would really make to it is altering the top of it to match the “vintage style” sides! The sides are my absolute favorite, and I don’t want them to be covered up by a wedding band or anniversary band down the line. It would take so much away from the ring to not be able to see the sides. So my question is, is there any way to alter your ring? And I don’t mean adding more diamonds, just maybe a design that matches the sides. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks:]

Can you post a top view of your ring? I’m not really sure what you mean by changing the top. Do you mean the top of the band or do you mean the basket for the diamond?

@Glasgowbound: I don’t really know how to explain what I mean! The top is just very blah.. and I would love for it to somehow match the sides better!

@bride2bee21: I’m not sure if you can alter it. I would ask a jeweler…But, if you can’t just know that it is absolutely beautiful! Congrats on your engagement.

You’d have to see the jeweler, but I doubt they’d just be able to alter the setting – my guess is they’d probably have to cast an entirely new one to get the same look. If you can’t, you could always get a wedding band with a similar design – it would still be cohesive.
For example, something like this with milgrain:

What a beautiful ring!! I understand wanting those gorgeous vintage scrolls and milgrain on the top too. What a contrast between the top and profile! I have to say I look at the profile of my ring too, as much as the top.
Not sure what a jeweler could do..perhaps add milgrain? Consult a good jeweler to see. My impression is that you’ll need a new setting if you want to change the top.
Now the other issue is that your fiance seems to take a lot of pride in picking out the “perfect” ring for the woman “he knows so well”. I’m more of fan of women absolutely loving their ring but there’s all kinds of mentalities our there 😉 So you have to weigh in how much this would hurt his ego…
Good luck and congrats on getting engaged!

Thank you all for the advice!! I absolutly love my ring and the fact that he put so much time into picking the perfect one makes it even that much more special! Im glad you all like it:]
I’ll have to talk to a jewler here in town and see what all I can do, otherwise ill just have to get a super gorgeous wedding band! Either way is a win I suppose!!
