My partner and I are trying to think of our music for our first dance (we will also need to find music for whilst we’re signing the register and leaving the ceremony but they can wait for now). We want something modern, appropriate lyrics wise and slow-ish.
We love Death Cab for Cutie and in particular I like “I will follow you into the dark” but I think, as someone earlier in the thread says, people may think it’s about death.I also like Passenger Seat but not sure if it’s any good for wedding first dance.
I also love Such Great Heights, I like Sigur Ros but I think it would be appropriate for ceremony whilst signing the register.
Any other good ideas?

We ended up having our unnofficial first dance to “Hands Down” by Dashboard Confessional. It is what I wanted to begin with but Darling Husband said it was waaay too fast. When it was time for our first dance I begged him to just skip it since I was sick of people staring at me. Later in the day after the crowds thinned out, our DJ put it on and he danced with me.
My advice is to gGo with a song that feels right whether it be too fast, too alternative, weird lyrics, etc. Pick one that means something to you and you wont go wrong!

We’re dancing to The Luckiest by Ben Folds. Other contenders were You and I by Wilco or Feel My Love by Adele.
