I dont know about something to toss, but i think its cute when the flowe girl and/or ring bearer carry a sign saying “here comes the bride” or something to that effect.

Biodegradable confetti, or pot pourri can work to the same effect as fresh flower petals, and are usually cheaper. x

I’m trying to figure this out, too!  I have 2 of them and don’t want petals thrown.  I like the sign idea because it’s very ‘new’ for my family/circle of friends but I haven’t found one I really like yet.

i’m actually wondering this same thing b/c i’m getting married on a beach in belize, i can’t bring actual flowers which are biodegradable because of customs and throwing down silk flowers is irresponsible.  i was thinking bubbles maybe?  what do you think of bubbles?

@smitten_and_giddy:

That is a cute idea.  I have the same problem.  We are doing a vow renewal, and my two little granddaughters will be flower girls.  I don’t know if they will catch on enough for the bubbles-the 4 year old can’t blow them yet, but she will be 5, and the younger one will 2, but she seems to catch on quicker cause she wants to be like her big sister.

@creativeplannertobee: yah, my neice will be 4, she’s pretty okay at blowing bubbles, but i was thinking about getting a ton of bubbles, like wedding favor style, and enlisting the attendees to assist her in the operation.

i figure all the bubbles might excite her and make her smile and giggle and play which would make the whole thing that much more adorable.

My wedding’s on the beach so our flower girl will have her own bouquet. If you want something more unique, maybe a ribbon wand that can flow in the wind.

I”m wondering if packages of small craft feathers would work to bring to a foreign country for a DW?  Anyone know?

My daughter and niece are 12 so they will be Junior bridesmaids…. I wont have a flower girl so I have opted to have the perminter of the aisle and the room area lined with rose petals instead.

We are doing “wands” (basically just a silk rose with ribbons & rings attached since we don’t have a ring bearer).

We considered leaves actually, but decided to go another way in the end.
