Get a coffeetable book of your choice (honeymoon destination, shared interest, etc) and a handful of archival quality scrapbooking pens (which do not fade over time like Sharpies and regular pens do) and have the guests sign the pages of the book.

Try etsy too. I saw a lot of cute original “guestbooks” there.

my diy guestbook is posted here http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/diy-guestbook

you could also have guests leave advice on postcards, notecards, etc.  Have the guests put the cards in a basket or jar.

I remember one bee had her guests sign a wooden bench that would be put in the entrance of her house.

You could have the guests type out something on an old typewriter.  Just google “typewriter guestbook”

Mr. owned & ran a sports memorabilia store as a teen, so we “reopened” the store, with “Baseball Cards” (including photo of each guest, fun fact on the back, & table number as their number) as escort cards & had them “autograph” 8×10 glossy enlargements of the same or similar photo of themselves.

Another bride here had strings connecting two trees in planters & had guests tie love notes of advice & well wishes on the strings.

My cousin had a video photobooth & guests could leave video messages to the bride & groom.

Lots of ideas out there…Good Luck!

We’re having a Thumbprint Tree, where guests will “leaf” a fingerprint on a tree skeleton that is drawn onto a large framed piece of paper and sign their names.  We’re also having Well Wishing cards at each guests’ seat with colored pencils on the table and encouraging guests to write or draw us some memories that we will collect and keep in an album.  Another idea I saw (that we aren’t using) is to use a wood slice (plaque) to have guest sign then hang on your wall.

We did the mat thing, but we used an idoengaravables so the signatures are very subtle on the silver mat.

we’re getting a LARGE cardboard stock paper like poster size and putting a 5X7 picture of us in the center and guests will sign it and well hang it in the house framed
