I think the crystal in the middle would look great, but I wouldn’t tie them back on the side. That would remind me of Grandma’s drapes. Just use your colors in the ribbon. Multi colored looks so nice.

Our venue is a beautiful open ballroom, however, the ceiling looks like a gym so we needed to figure something out.  What I ended up doing was ordering tulle from ebay and some of Joe’s Sticky Stuff which is a very sticky, double sided tape.  The tulle is 108″ wide and 150 feet long and it cost me $0.98 per foot!  Solved my ugly ceiling problems and the tape ensures no holes in the venue ceiling. We will also be stringing lights between the ceiling and the tulle for a soft romantic feeling.

Our vow renewal isn’t until July but I will definitely post pics afterword.

Ok ribbon is going to be much more expensive than a fabric backdrop (well unless you use florist ribbon which is just horrible in my mind). I am doing a big fabric swag behind our head table. Farbic cost us 99cents a metre and then we bought a bolt of tulle with a 40% off coupon at Micheals for fill it in and make it a little puffier. We are putting a giant initial in glitter as well on the wall between the two of us. If you know someone who can sew I would look back into curtain backdrop (all of the curtains in my house cost me a total of 20$ including thread lol).

We have changed our plans a little bit.  I never realized how expensive strand lights were until I went to buy a bunch of them!  So what we will be doing in hanging light pink lanterns filled with “throwie” lights.  I got the lanterns for $1.20 each (40 of them) and 150 throwie light makings.  *sigh* Not exaclty what we wanted but I think the pink lanterns will be a very nice contrast with the white tulle.

Tight budgets require creative management.

How did you ladies manage your lighting?  Any tight budget brides here?  We are planning a renewal of 50 people for under $4000.
