What do you guys think of bridesmaids carrying decorated candles instead of bouquets? I’m looking for a cheap and unique substitute and thought this was cute, but Fiance says it might give our wedding a funeralish feel.
Here are some pics that inspired me.
What are your thoughts?

It’s a little churchy for me. Will your venues allow candles would be the first thing I would check.

I like the idea were doing lanterns with candles lit inside.

@glitter86: Honestly, it reminds me of a candlelight vigil. I wanted to like it, but it seems weird. Particulary in the second picture… Sorry!

I think they look a bit odd. Sorry. If you were looking for a cheaper alternative to flowers why not try silk flowers? Lots of bees on here use them, and they look amazing in photos.

Sorry, I think it looks really strange.

It looks a little bit odd to me too. And dangerous! (My hair caught on fire once from a candle, so I’m sure I’m alone on that one here)

I think it would look nicer with small bouquets or fake flowers…I’m not a fan of the candles

I likes the candle idea but I was vetoed. Instead my bridesmaids are carrying purses. This is one I made.

@MrsDTMajor: love the purses! great idea.

My Maid/Matron of Honor carried one of those glass candleholders- (her gift) -with a bouquet inside, to be used as a hanging candle holder later. 🙂

The candles look pretty strange to me! I see a few others said this already, but a friend of mine had her bridesmaids carry clutches and it looked cute! She gave them as their bridesmaid gift.

Ah, finally got to add the cropped photo -above!

What about pomanders? Or one big flower?

I’m too traditional to ever give that a fair chance…I just see bride and bridesmaids with flowers.
