I’m not going to have any bridesmaids in my wedding, however I want to have a special day with my close friends and make them feel a part of the day (in an inexpensive way). Does anyone have any suggestions about how I would do this? Maybe invite them to a “getting ready” cocktail hour? I’m at a loss but want to make sure the day feels special and I’m surrounded by them.

I’d say invite them to help you get ready. Are you giving your guests favors? Maybe you could give them a special one…or a card?

You can definitely have them help you get ready; make sure they’re on a list of people for your photographer to get photos of you with; seat them at your table if that’s possible. Also involve them in the week leading up to the wedding– have a special “pre-wedding dinner” or day or night out with them. Or invite them to help you with one particular last minute detail. You can also ask one or more of them to give toasts.
One of my best friends (who is now my BM) decided not to have bridesmaids, but I felt very included in her wedding– she invited me (and her Fiance invited his close friends) on a trip to a lake the day before the wedding when everyone was in town and we had a blast. I also helped her pick up her flowers which was DIYing and saw her before the wedding and I gave a toast at the reception.
