I’m sure this has been mentioned (not patient enough to read through…) but we’re going a quilt which I’m super excited about.  Each guest will write a little note on a fabric square, then I’ll quilt them all together to be used in our future home.  Once I learn how to quilt…

I want our photographer to do a photobooth. Each guest/group/couple will have the option of writing a message out on a little chalkboard to hold up for the camera if they want to leave a message. I don’t know that we’ll really look over a guestbook years and years from now so pictures seem like the way to go.

We’re going to get a small photo book made from blurb.com.  We’re going to try to have as many personalized pages as possible with us and our invited guests.  That way, each guest can sign on the page with their picture.  For the people who we don’t have photos of, we’ll have them sign on non-personalized pages with photos of us from our engagement session and other candid photos.

We are using an awesome personalized photo mat frame (black/silver) with an 8×10 photo in the center. We didn’t want a traditional guest book because we don’t think we’ll hardly ever look at it. But this, we’ll hang right in our living room! So many clever ideas here-love the quilt idea!

Another way to ultilze a guest book in a unique way is to have guests sign custom cards and place them insdie a wooden keepsake box. Then, you can use the box later to store more of your wedding goodies.

Here are some options for wooden guest book boxes: http://www.thetrendysparrow.etsy.com

I see this topic is a bit older but I’d like to add a link to my etsy shop where I have an alternative guest book set.  These jotter size notebooks come as a boxed set.  I hope that couples will enjoy them for years after the wedding.

My cousin is having a ‘tree of love’ – bare branches arranged in a big vase to be a ‘tree’ and then each guest will write their message on a heart-shaped piece of paper and hang it on the tree.

futuremrse:  I’ve seen these shawdow boxes on etsy where people put their names on a wooden heart and drop it in the box! I plan on getting one
