I’ve fallen madly in lust with this Carolina Herrera gown but it’s way beyond our budget. I’ve visited 4 different salons in my town and nothing has come close.
I tried on an Alvina Valenta today and loved the shape and how the beading caught the light when I moved, but I’m afraid the petal detailing looks a bit too much like fish scales… What do you bees think? Can you gals come up with some other alternatives to the Carolina Herrera dress that I should seek out?

When I saw your dress I immediately thought of several Allure dresses that are similar. I also love the Valenta, it catches the light so nicely.
What is your budget?
Allure 2462 8769 and 8720.
Best of luck with your search.

I don’t know of any alternatives, but just wanted to say that the Alvin dress does NOT look like fish scales, it looks really pretty and the petals give off a nice sheen!

My budget is ideally under 3 and the Alvina is 3.9. :/

Try to see if they have it or something similar at churchstreetbridal.blogspot.com. I don’t think they have it on their blog but if you email them, they will email you back with what they have.

The Alvina is beautiful and does not look at all like fish scales! Your original love is also stunning of course.
Henry Roth’s Kali reminds me of the Carolina dress in its distinctively leaf/floral /vine pattern, and the Kleinfeld’s website has it in the $1,500-$3,000 range (and I think the Kleinfeld’s site has better pics of the detailing, but you have to sign up/log in to see it).

Awesome! Keep the suggestions coming! I’ll try the Allure gowns this weekend.
