elderbee :  I had a friend who got a gorgeous dress but cut off the train. When I saw that it made me so sad. The entire charm of the dress was lost. I don’t understand why people do that. If you’re getting a train, wear the train. If not, there are many designs that don’t have one.

misstomorris :  When we say do a wrist loop we’re not talking about the one that is for the hanger, although I suppose technically that would work…
You can actually have a wrist loop added, it’s usually a piece of wide ribbon (so it doesn’t cut into your wrist) but I have also seen them attached to bracelets or bangles as well.

For my ball dress which had a puddle train I had a ribbon ‘ring loop’ added which I slipped over my middle finger to carry my train around.

elderbee :  The reason people buy a dress with a train and then cut the train off is because ALL WEDDING DRESSES HAVE TRAINS THESE DAYS! Sorry for using all caps, but I’m so frustrated with wedding dresses I could scream. Every single dress I’ve seen (online and in stores) has a train. I’ve been dress shopping for 6 months, and I haven’t found any dresses without a train. It’s hard enough as it is to find a dress I love that looks good on me. If I fall in love with a dress and the only flaw is the train, of course I will buy the dress and have the train removed. The dress will need to be hemmed anyway; might as well cut off the train while I’m at it.

I don’t understand it when people say the beauty of the dress is all in the train. Are you telling me the train is the only part of the dress that looks good? The rest of the dress is drab or ugly? Why would you buy a dress like that? You can’t see the train once it’s bustled anyway. What’s the point of a beautiful train if it’s going to be hidden and pinned to the skirt for most of the day?
