What about a picture frame?  You could Paint or use something less permanent on the glass? Or just print on paper and frame it.

This is a bit too frou frou for me , but it does demonstrate the idea of making signs from sheets of galvanized metal. You could prop the sign up against a table easel.

You can get the metal sheets at the hardware store. If you want, you could take them to a sheet metal shop and have them cut a similar shape for your sign.

You can also use galvanized metal ceiling tiles.
