Just ride in a normal car.  It’s WAY cheaper.  Those huge SUV limos can’t be cheaper than a regular limo, and I think they get like three miles to the gallon.

@asb983:  This probably wont be your style but we used minis, my Darling Husband and his mate both have one. I loved the look and saved hundreds

We rented a 1965 jaguar for 400$ and it was beautiful and looked great in the pictures!

@asb983:  We decorated ordinary cars. I found two friends who had fairly large white cars (I know nothing about cars, so long as they are the same colour I call that a match), and decorated them with a ribbon at the front and tulle at the back window.

@asb983:  we ended up getting lucky- we found a bus for $60 per hour. Look at groupon and amazon local. There is also this site called gig bid around here (not sure where you are from) but you can post an ISO and people will bid on your event

@asb983:  Our friend who owns the blue mini drove ours (the red one) and his wife drove theirs.  It was actually really awesome, they bought champagne for our first look and we ended up getting a few photos with them there. We used the cars for our first look too…haven’t got our pro pics back but this was our inspiration pic

Thanks! I’m up in Auckland in the North Island but the South is super beautiful too!

I’ve heard of people just renting a mercedes or BMW from AVIS, Budget rental etc and just getting a friend to drive, works out heaps cheaper and you dont have to worry about the time limits the only draw back is you may need more than one car where with a limo the bridal party can all fit in.

@asb983:  I think you were quoted a great price! We’re spending $1200 on an stretch SUV, but that includes being driven to and from our picture location. All in all, it will be 15-20 minutes of travel time (our price does include late night pick up after the reception, and one drop-off, most likely at our hotel). Keep in mind, you’re paying to rent the limo/SUV as well as someone to drive, and wait around for quite some time.

The suggestions from the other Bees are great alternatives to save money, but still be transported to and from your location. Best of luck to you!!
