So last night Darling Husband, our LO and I went into Mexico. Darling Husband had a company basketball game and LO and I always tag along. Ok so after the game we were on our way home and I was driving. We get to a light and it starts bleenking green and then turns to yellow. I’ve crossed the line and am in the middle of the intersection when it turns red. Needless to say there is a transit cop at the light and pulls me over. I get ticketed and they take my license until I pay the fine. It’s only like 300 pesos or so which is like $20-=$30ish dollars. I feel like a dummy because two weeks ago I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t make a complete stop at a stop sign in front of a sheriff. Darling Husband didn’t get mad at me last night which is awesome and it could have been a lot worse than what it was I suppose, We could have been harrassed or possibly worse. Darling Husband can’t take me to get my license today since he is out of town coaching at a basketball tourny so it’ll be tomorrow. I seriously thought about going to the DPS office and just saying I lost my license and getting a new one and not paying the ticket. I’m paying the ticket though because I don’t feel comfortable about leaving my license just there with my address and info and stuff. I give up driving from now on until I can pay better attention and stop being distracted lol

“I seriously thought about going to the DPS office and just saying I lost my license and getting a new one and not paying the ticket.”
Best to be honest, pay up, take responsibility and BE MORE CAUTIOUS!
Why did you first think to lie to get out of the ticket? Do you feel you shouldn’t have been ticketed?

@brandybelle: WOWWWWWWWWWW. Your post is disgusting. Think about saying ” f the police” next time you call 911 becuase you or a loved one needs help. There are some police officers that abuse their power but you have NO right to dismiss respect for ALL of them.

It happens to the best of us… Valentine’s Day I had pulled out of the parking lot at the grocery store. They had just put a No Left Turn sign there due to all the accidents that occur on that street as of late….
I, of course, did not think to look for this sign and turned left out of habit. There were two cops sitting there waiting for people to do that. I got a $250 ticket from that cop as a Vday gift.
It is so embarrassing getting pulled over! and the worst part is when they ask you, “Do you know why I pulled you over?” and I say, “Uhhhh…..No…..”. “There was a no left turn sign right in front of you.” “Oh……” I looked like a moron!
Taught me to always pay attention, that is for sure…..

Well, now you’ve learned your lesson, I hope.
Please don’t think about lying to get a new license or to avoid a ticket. There are ways to appeal tickets if you think you didn’t break the law, but from your description, it sounds like you knew you were at fault. Lying just makes it worse.

Not sure why people are blowing up at you for this post? Doesn’t sound to me like you’re showing any disrespect for cops.
Regardless, you’re doing the smart thing by paying the ticket. I always thought that if you crossed the line on yellow, it’s not running a red light. Oh well.

@MrsBot: I’m pretty sure that’s universal here, but OP was in Mexico, so the laws are probably different?

@HisAngel: Really? you are going to start another argument? I’m not even going to play this game. you win. I apologize if I hurt your feelings by stating that i have strong feelings against the local law.

@brandybelle: I’m not arguing at all. I was replying to your post. If you don’t have any respect for law enforcement, don’t ever call the police. Simple as that!

I was on my way home from work late one night after a REALLY crappy day. At the end of our block there is a small one way (only half a block and its actually a no turning sign not really a one way) that runs into the major highway. So coming home I can see that road and I make sure no one else is coming and turn there to get to my house (otherwise I would have to go about a mile out of my way to get basically back to the road I was turning on that is just a block from my house). As soon as I make my right hand turn to get on the street my house is on just off that “one way” a cop car comes over the hill and follows me to my driveway where they pull me over. My Fiance watches as I get a ticket from our backdoor and waves at the cops as they drive away…jerk lol.

Im not sure what the law is there but i know my dad got a speeding ticket whilst on holiday in South Africa which he still hasnt paid. He knows that if he were to go back there, as soon as he gets to customs they will demand the fine plus god knows what for not paying! Definately pay it incase you need to go back! and be more careful next time.
PS. my dad is a traffic cop and even he gets tickets- dont worry yourself about it, your only human!

@Sienna76- I plan on paying my ticket, I just had the thought that if I wanted too I could easily report my license lost and get it replaced. I also lied because I freaked out just a tad.
I didn’t think I was going to get ticketed because well people do it all the time. The lights start flashing green and then turn to yellow and then red. I crossed while it was flashing green and it turned yellow while I was in the middle of the intersection and then turned red. That is when they pulled me over. The ticket shouldn’t be too much probably like 20-30 dollars or so. I went yesterday after Darling Husband got off work but they were closed and now he’ll have to ask for some time off of work Monday morning and take me since they close at 2pm.
A teachers aide Darling Husband works with was telling him that she got pulled over once and the guy took her license and then told her she could pick it up at the hotel room later that night if she didn’t want to pay. She didn’t realize what his intentions were so when she went to pay the ticket a few days later the guy happened to be there and she asked the person behind the desk “why did he tell me I could pick this up at the hotel room?” The guy dropped his head in shame and her husband got pissed off.

Some of y’alls posts gave me a chuckle, I am glad I am not alone. I usually am a pretty darn good driver but I’m only human lol
