My best friend/MOH told me a couple months ago she found a receipt for an engagement ring in her future FI’s nightstand- Its one of the ‘Simply Vera- Vera Wang’ e-rings from Kohls.
Anyway, My Fiance and I decided to upgrade, and I found a ring that I initially liked, but didnt love, so I returned it. I cried, I had my heart set on getting a ring I truely loved and I failed at it.. and put my Fiance through financing it then returning it. After toiling over the internet I came across the Vera Wang LOVE collection at zales, so I went to Zales and fell in LOVE with my ring. Its so perfect for me- and I love it so much.
When I told my friend I got a VW ring she got really upset with me and wouldnt talk to me for 2 weeks. She told me she told like 10 of her friends that I got a VW ring and that they said they would be mad at me too, and that 2 of them even said theyd stop being friends with me.
I thought she’d be happy for me that I found something I loved, while having a designer band is nice, I really just fell in love with the ring itself.. the name really doesnt matter to me… shoot, I thought we would be like Vera Wang sisters and unite our rings like in Captain Planet. Instead, shes got people telling her to ‘dump me’… wtf. 🙁
Heres my ring.. isnt it beautiful? I’m not returning it, damnit.

@xcarley: She’s being an idiot. That’s like getting mad at someone because they shop at the same grocery store… I’d take it as a compliment if someone wanted the same ring I have! Not to mention you said it was just the same brand, not even the same ring. Is she trapped in high school??

@xcarley: I would invest in friends that aren’t so petty.
Also, lovely ring!:)

IMO, your friend is being ridiculous! No one is going to know who the designer is, and most people don’t even care!
There are millions of rings that look like millions of other rings. And she got a massed-produced ring from Kohl’s so she can’t be mad about it not being one of a kind.
PS: Your ring is AHHMAZING. SO beautiful. Congrats on finding something you love!

That kind of attitude from your friend sounds so familiar to me….ah yes 5th grade! I got a dolphin ring matching by BFF’s and she wouldn’t speak to me for two weeks. Seriously, if it was the EXACT same ring I could maybe see her point but the same brand from different stores, she needs to grow up a bit.
You got your ring because you loved it not because she had a Vera and you needed one to compete with her ring. There are hundreds if not thousands of women out there with Vera Wang rings, probably many with the same ring as her…will she decide to hate them all?

Did she already get her ring and is it the same as yours? Unless you went out and purposely got the exact same ring, she and no one else has the right to be upset. I don’t understand some girls, what kind of friend would one be to end a friendship over the same brand of ring? lol

Wait, so she’s mad that you got a ring that was the same brand as her ring, but it’s not the same ring, right?
Yeah, she’s being ridiculus. She doesn’t own the rights to every single VW ring ever made.
Your ring is GORGEOUS, btw.

I cannot possibly understand what your choice of ring has to do with your friend. If you had gone out and got a custom-made ring to look like hers, I’d understand, but getting upset about this is just crazy on her part.
And your ring is absolutely beautiful.

That’s seriously immature she needs to get ovr it. U weren’t doing it to spite her so she should b happy

Wait, it’s not even the same style and she’s flipping out? I guess I should have taken a harder stance with my TWO friends who bought Mori Lee dresses after I bought mine 18 months ago! Clearly I don’t understand bridal etiquette. 😉
Seriously, this girl is being a whack-a-doodle. Tell her to the chill the F out. If you’re not custom designing your ring, someone – somewhere – has your same ring and thousands more will have a ring by the same designer. She might want to start getting over that now…

I think the whole thing sounds stupid. She’s probably mad because she hasn’t gotten her ring yet. You’re not married yet, but have already upgraded. Now you choose a “nicer” version of a VW ring, so she feels crappy. I think it’s a little strange that you have already upgraded to a new ring, and then chose a VW, but her response is ridiculous.

I dont get girls. Why do we need to be petty and catty and compare rings? Come on people!!!
She’s mad because you got the same brand ring? The exact same ring is one thing, but same brand? That’s just ridiculous. You did nothing wrong. Your friend needs to graduate from high school.

It’s not even from the same store/collection!! She is being absolutely rediculous.
And your ring is stunning!!

You purchased the same brand, not the same ring?
Does she think she has exclusive rights within your group of friends to be only one to own a VW ring.
Who GAF what brand a ring is.
