My husband and I got married on May 2nd and we bothe decided to wait and do our honeymoon in the Fall, well, now it’s probably going to be end of November, early December.
So I’m at work, researching and asking for opinions on the Caribbean, and my coworker says (since I had a Destination Wedding, paid for by my wonderful parents) “well, you just had this extravagent huge wedding and now your going to have this huge honeymoon? Why would you do that?”
Am I being extravagant and selfish? My Husband and I have NEVER been alone on a trip except an occasional weekend. Never a full week ALONE, and I really would love to go somewhere I’ve never been….

Your coworker doesn’t know your finances, so all he sees is “wow they spent a ton of money”. For most people, a destination wedding essentially includes a honeymoon.
Just tell him, “well we want to get away together.”
I have coworkers like that–very “practical” money-wise. They don’t spend it unless they NEED to. Even if it’s a vacation. I’m not like that.
Plus i know lots of people who go on vacation every 6-7 months. In fact, my parents go about 4-5 times a year. Who cares what your one coworker thinks (who maybe cannot afford to go, himself)–vacations are great =]
