Wow! Those invites are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! *stares at the screen for a few moments* Okay, now it’s time to come back down to earth. I would say that most of the cost is the actual box that it comes in. You can hire a graphic designer to design the image and sell you the digital file. You can then print them yourself on an online or local printing company on card stock. It’s not going to cost you $1800 for the paper.
If you can afford them and you are okay with the fact that 90% of them will go in the trash, then spend away!!!! Send me one for shits and giggles! ^_^
Man, I bet shipping is a bitch with those boxes. They are so pretty though! I wonder how much it would cost for one! lol

I do think that is really expensive. Totally agree that you will find what your looking for on Etsy for a faction of the cost. Please share the final choice.

The thing is that quote isn’t even for the box, it’s just for the flat paper invites :/

The fact that they are flat printed makes them way too expensive in my opinion.

that is ridiculous. her invites are pretty, but i don’t think they’re worth that much. if i had $1800 to spend on invites, i would be working with ceci new york!

No. Not worth it. They simply aren’t that complicated. I don’t understand why they cost that much, and they aren’t unique enough to justify the price. Even my dream letterpress invites from Bella Figura are only about $7-12 apiece, and they involve a lot of handwork and handmade paper.
I just honestly don’t get it! (They’re very pretty, but I’m a designer and I just don’t see what she’s doing that justifies the price.)

Oh, I see. It’s the box. Pretty, but IMO not worth it!

Thank you all for your wonderful input! Fiance and I were going over her contract and originally thoguht it would be letterpress. However, after doing more extensive research and as much as I love a great invite I think I could DIY it or have someone do it on ETSY for 1/2 that cost. Thanx, I’ll try to post the final product once I get it hashed out. Does anyone know where to find gret DIY invites perf. with the boxes?

$30 per invitation!? Yikes! That’s more than we spent per person on food, hahaha.
A note on the etsy alchemy idea – they’re closing Alchemy next week!!!! So that route might not work 🙁

@ddw:
Gah, one of my etsy sellers sent me that message and I was like WTFFFF NOOOOO!! SO glad I already put in the order for my invitations through there. It’s still far enough out that I almost waited but then thought I might as well just get them out of the way and scratch them off my list and good thing, since they’re shutting alchemy down.
