- Wedding: May 2015
I hired the wedding photographer and her company for my engagement photography and wedding event last year. When we signed the contract, the director promised to be my photographer. however, after she collected $3500 non-refundable deposits, she claimed she have another client paid extra $$ to “pick” her as the photographer. She apologized on it (on verbal and written) and claimed she will assign another equally qualified replacement for us.
The nightmare started after the replacement finished our engagement photos. The director started refused to deliver proof photos, until we drop off the final payment. She delivered the proof photo 3 days before my wedding. And those photos are crab!! They are 90% redundant photos with significant visible flaws, like out of focus, color distortion, over exposure, weird facial expressions etc. The director threaten us to accept her “photography services” wedding photographer, or else she wont provide the makeup, florist, dress rental, MC etc. for my wedding (2 days after), but we still need to pay in full amount. The director knew her replacement screw up the job, thus she sub-contract a freelance photographer to finish my wedding day. But sure, she denied on anything she promised, but claimed “you don’t write the photographer’s name on contract” etc.
The freelance photographer is a very kind person. She told us that my wedding day only have about 400 photos for my 7 hours wedding. And we will expect some photo taken by the replacement photographer have blinking, out of focus…..
Moreover, we found the director lie to us about her replacement’s qualification. The replacement was impossible to have equally qualified to the director! We feel like being scam…. The director started to unilateral alter/added contract terms, to change the products in her favor. We event catch her to alter the delivery date of proof photos, to conceal the fact of late delivery.
We asked the director to finish all the post processing work on engagement photos, but she refused to do so. She insisted we have to accept the redundant photo with visible flaws as final products first and reduced the quantity from 140 to 40 photos, and then she will deliver our wedding day photos.
We sought for third party photographer to evaluate her “finished edited photos”. She insisted her photos were absolutely normal, and claimed she have extraordinary editing skills that can beat down most photographers in greater Vancouver area…..Then she just unilateral terminate the contract, refused to deliver any photos, charge over-price inexistent service and products, issued invaid refund cheque, and claimed as we received her mail, we have no right to take legal actions against them, and they have no liabilities on it anymore………
I am really frustrated by this comapny…………………………..
The last thing I think I have done it right is withhold the final payments. We told that director about our decision right after we stop the cheque. But from what im suffering, I dont think the compnay is capable of doing their job well, they just want to get my money, then force me to take those crab home unconditionally!!!
