Ha!  I don’t think it’s weird, although for me it would be about wanting to use them together for the first time, not them necessarily being new.

Just think of it like Christmas…you gotta wait and that makes it better!

Lol why don’t you have a “new home new stuff” party w/ Fiance. Once you move in you guys can make dinner together & eat on your new dishes in your new apt. Make it fun!

@VioletSky:  The dishes won’t be new because her Fiance will be living there and probably using them. 🙂

Why don’t you tell your Fiance that it’s hands off until after the wedding with all the new things!! 😉  That way, you guys can experience them together.

I would make him wait to use all of the new things until after the wedding that way you can use them together =)

You’re not weird at all!  We got married in April, and bought a new place shortly after, but didn’t move until July.  I insisted that we not use our wedding/shower presents until the move because I didn’t want the hassle of taking them all out of their boxes, and then having to repack everything again.  It was SO hard seeing everything, and not being able to use them, though!

It will be a great feeling to have everything new when you move in.  You don’t want your Fiance sleeping in the sheets now, do you?  You want nice, new fresh ones to start your married life together!

@moose91:  You’re not being selfish at all!  I would also want to wait until I got moved in so we could use it together.  I vote for the option of buying him a few cheap things from the dollar store that he can use until you get married.  It’ll be way more fun to use your wedding gifts together after you’re married and living together!

My Southern family is a little traditional & superstitious, so all of my relatives believe it is bad luck to use any wedding gifts before the vows. It sounds silly, but it is one of the few quirks of my aunts that I think I’ll abide by… I just think it will be fun to use stuff together for the very first time!
