I love charger plates. They add such an elegance to a table. I’m with you on this one. 🙂

I love chargers and they were something I REALLY couldnt go without for my wedding, but I definitely wouldnt use them for every night family dinner. If youre having a sit down dinner party, I think theyre really nice.

Haha I looked it up.  We don’t have place settings but if this is something you want, then go for it!

I’d never even heard of charger plates until I started planning my wedding!

They are nice for weddings and special occassions, but I’ve never seen one used for everyday dining.

i have gold chargers and silver charges.  i have had them for years but now my dinner dishes are square and don’t look as good with round chargers.

I have some for decoration above my cabinets, but I’ve never actually used them as a setting.

Nothing wrong with wanting these, but if folks in your social circle don’t know what they are, then they’re probably better off if bought with your own money and not via a registry.

FWIW I’d not expect gifts if I was moving in with my SO as renters. Are you buying?

I can’t imagine we’d ever use them, so we don’t have them. Then again, we also don’t have any formal china. I can see why you would also want charger plates if formal china is something that is important to you.

@Booknerd:  Absolutely they are still used for weddings! I would even go so far as to say a table setting at a formal affair looks really incomplete (read: not properly set) without them (but I’m really actually obsessed with them so I’m clearly biased lol).
