I would take it back to her again and tell her to make it extra secure.  you are not being unreasonable, it was nice of him to pay, but you are right you could have gotten something similar for cheaper elseware and used his money to go a little further.

If I were you I would have to fix it another time… for free hopefully, and make sure you let her know that youare worried about the stones being loose and falling out. See if there is any way you could ‘trade in’ for a plain band or something a little more secure.

Ugh thats a toughy since you Father-In-Law was just trying to do you a favour, you dont want to hurt his feelings he just thought he was doing a nice thing for you. How frustrating though. I would take it back and be very stern that you want it fixed and fixed properly since you paid a good chunk of money for it, you have every right to have a ring that doesnt lose stones, I would not be a happy customer either thats for sure. As for your Father-In-Law I would let that slide he meant no harm so being upset with him will do no good and you may come off the wrong way. Good Luck

I think the problem is the quality of the jewelry, not your Father-In-Law. He paid for 1/2 the cost of the ring that you wanted. The problem is the jeweler and quality and nobody else.
