Is it local to you guys? Can you drive out there and see what the temp is likely to be? What about a marquee with open sides so you and your guests are in the shade?
We saw a beach wedding a few weeks ago. I think it was about over but the bride and groom were on the beach and all the guests had moved up to the bank under the trees. I felt sorry for the guys in their suits, and the sunburn! This was right in the hottest part of the year though, and about the middle of the day, too.

Communication is lacking. How long is the ceremony? Better yet, when are you having the ceremony? If it’s early morning or later pm, I could see this working. I’m from swampy – 100% humidity NC even in Apil, so I feel your pain.
Why not compromise? Since youre getting the chairs so cheap, why not throw up a tent of some sort or shade? Maybe even a mister and possibly fans with lots of water to drink available.
Nothing worse than having a guest or gosh forbid, a groom, passout.

I gotta tell you, I don’t love all the ultimatums in your post. He won’t show up? Seriously? I think you guys need to step back and decide what your priorities and budget are and then when concerns come up about the weather discuss them together without threatening each other to get what you want. (I’m writing this neutrally but I realize right now it’s coming from him). And if you disagree on what you want you have to find ways for both of you to get some of your first choices. It’s going to be a looong wedding planning process otherwise.
Personally I hate the heat and would not want to worry about that on my wedding day (also I would never live in Florida), but at the same time it’s only the ceremony. I’ve been to a bunch of overly hot ceremonies and its not a huge deal. It’s over so fast. Maybe he just shouldn’t be wearing a three piece suit!
