@missplanner: TOTALLY AGREE

Stick to your guns and do not feel one second of guilt! She chooses to have kids and you choose to have a kid free wedding. It is not the brides responsibility to be a parent (provide babysitting or activities for kids during weddings) even if it is a nice offer. And in my opinion even infants can ruin a beutiful ceremony. I mean I am paying what feels like a fortune for a videographer and the last thing that I want is to have a baby start screaming during the ceremony and for me to be stuck with that on my video forever. No children is no children for anyone.

I think something that we might be missing here is that even though ERY didn’t feel very close to this cousin, perhaps she was flattered by the invite and REALLY DID want to come. If she was upset that she couldnt because of the no baby rule, I can understand why the other cousins might line up behind her. You really didn’t give this mother a choice. I think it’s a big sacrifice for anyone who has kids at all to entrust them to a sitter just so they can attend your wedding, and she was willing to do this with her other kids.

Heck, my OWN SISTER and Maid/Matron of Honor, first told me she would leave her kids 3 and 5 with the close friend of my husbands family as planned. Then she broke out into tears on the day of my wedding saying she couldn’t leave them and trust them to someone she didn’t know. I didn’t want drama on my wedding, and I wanted my sister there so I allowed the kids. Would you believe they made a big scene during the reception and whilst running around like crazy, (the only ones on the dancefloor), they pulled the cord out of the projector in the middle of the slideshow my husband and I spent HOURS putting together. No one was watching it anyway, because they were all focused on “look at the cute kids!” Thank goodness they were in the bridal party or I dont know how I would have justified having them there to the other guests.

@ eryepye, i think since you stated on invite that it was “adult” only you are in the right but…

You are wrong about babies crying during ceremonies I took my 2 month old son to a friends wedding and he slept the entire 4 hrs of the ceremony & reception! So think about that

Also think about when you have a child or a niece and nephew would you like to be discluded just because you breastfeed?? That’s the unreasonable part, , you are punishing your cousin because she breastfeeds! one day you will be in those shoes, and then you will understand!
