I have been lusting over the Alfred Angelo 801, but the $1500 price tag was out of my price range.
I popped into to a bridal boutique yesterday to find it in my exact size, in my exact colour and on sale for $900.
The problem being – I am still 1.5 years from my wedding. The style is more classic than trendy, and I am not one to follow trends anyways.
Any other reason I should avoid buying a dress this early?
I am supposed to pick it up in about 2 hours.

um … yeah that seems early – but if you love it thats great – just have to maintain your weight during this time

I think you know your dress when you see it! If you do buy it, take my advice and don’t try any more on lol. I bought my dress 10 months before my wedding and still continued to look at dresses online. I tried a few on and realized my original dress that I bought was the one!
And I know personally, my dress sort of set the whole tone/theme to my wedding! PS Alfred Angelo 801 is gorgeous! Good Luck!

I think it really depends on your personality, actually. If you’re the type of person that falls in love with something, and never gives it a second thought, its definitely not too early! But if you second guess yourself easily, you may want to wait. If you buy it, don’t try on other dresses! Personally, I’d buy it 🙂 it wouldn’t be too early for me.

Well you can buy it now and if you change your mind, find something else, lose or gain wieght etc. you can always sell it.

It’s a beautiful dress- just stop dress shopping NOW. Otherwise we might see you on a dress regret thread later this year. 🙂

OMG yes that dress is gorgeous. If you have the budget set and the venue and tone of your wedding determined, and the dress fits this then I would say yes to the dress! If not, then I would wait. I’m saying this from personal experience. I bought my first dress before I had done ANYTHING and I was alone. I bought the dress and long story short, it didnt fit the venue I ended up booking, my mother didnt like it (she didnt say that but I could tell) and it needed more work (meaning more money) done to it and the expense was already over budget. I had to end up getting a 2nd dress that worked with my wedding plans.

If you buy it, do NOT go dress shopping afterwards. Haha.

Our venue and photographer are booked, my colours are picked! The only reason we have such a long engagement is because we are paying for it ourselves and didn’t want to go into debt to do so.
I think I am going to say yes!

If you are 100% sure that IS the dress, go for it!

If I buy the dress now, what is the best way to store it? Do I need to worry about it changing colour?

@Miss_Itzy: I don’t think that’s too early at all! Usually it’s about 9-12 months out that brides should get their dress, so you’re just a little more than that. I wouldn’t worry – plus, you love it and it’s a great deal! I say go for it!

I bought my dress 19 months in advance. It was a total whim, but I had a very specific look that I wanted (short, 50s style, lace and tulle) and had wanted that same look for years. So when I found it in my price range, I bought it.
I agree that it’s about your personality and being honest with yourself. Are you going to look at other dresses? Do you frequent dress websites? Have you looked at other dresses and had the same loving feeling? For me, I see other dresses and think that they are pretty, but they are not my dress. It’s very distinct.

I don’t think you’re buying too early. Just make sure you absolutely love the dress though.
I bought my dress a year and three months out from my wedding and have no regret.

Go for it! My wedding is a month after yours and I bought my dress last week because I fell in love with it the moment I saw it (and it was 20% off!) If you know you love it, and you’re getting a great deal on a dress that would be too expensive otherwise, I don’t think the timing of the purchase matters too much. Grats on finding your dream dress!! 🙂
